[Susan B. Anthony House Celebrates]
A woman's right to vote was celebrated.

It's a right many Americans take for granted. A right women have only had for 87 years. It’s the right to vote.

The Susan B. Anthony House in Rochester helped celebrate a woman's right to vote Sunday with an open house. It was Anthony who spearheaded the women's suffragist movement that eventually led to the 19th Amendment to the Constitution in 1920.

“We really need to commemorate this day. It isn’t simply the act of voting that we commemorate, but voting had other aspects of women's lives: their education, their married life and their earning potential. The fact they could now attend institutions of higher learning, equal pay was an issue," said Lyn Somers of the Susan B. Anthony House.

The open house featured tours and activities for children. The Susan B. Anthony House was Anthony’s home during the most politically active period of her life. It is also the site of her famous arrest for voting in 1872.
